Dear HTV Families

Dear HTV Families,

Huntington Tri-Village Little League hopes that all of our family members, the players, parents, volunteers, fans, and sponsors are safe and able to cope with the unique challenges that we all face from COVID-19. As a community league, nothing is more important than our community members, the HTV family.

An update on where things stand: Little League International Board of Directors is still advising all its local Little League programs to delay their Little League seasons at least through Monday, May 11. HTV is following the guidelines set by the World Health OrganizationCenters for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the NY State Department of Health and the Suffolk County Department of Health, as well as the recommendations of Little League International.

We remain in contact with the various agencies and Little League Int. to receive updates and advice. The HTV Board meets online regularly to keep ourselves current on new developments, and to plan on how to best deal with the situation we all face. As circumstances change, we will examine what we can do to best meet the needs of the HTV community. Like the thousands of other leagues around the country, we are looking at the options we can offer to our players. Whatever we do, you can be sure the number one priority is the safety of all members of our family.

Driving past the complex a weekend ago it was sad to see the fields empty on what would have been a beautiful opening day. We are sure that everyone is looking forward to being out together, playing baseball and softball, and watching the games. And as soon as it is safe, we will.

Regarding the International Tournament, Little League Int. has released a statement. “At this time, no decision has been made regarding delaying the start of the Little League International Tournament. We are planning for the hopeful start of the Little League seasons. Our focus is on the safety and well-being of all Little League families around the world, and the hopeful return to Little League play, including our Tournament events.”

We will strive to keep everyone informed as things change. Information will be emailed, and posted to our web site and Facebook page.

We hope you remain safe, and are able to best manage the obstacles we are all facing.
