Update, 5/15

Dear HTV Families,

We hope you and your family are safe and managing as well as possible during this trying time. We appreciate your patience as we work through the difficulties this situation creates for all of us.

We want to update you on where we stand with respect to the virus and the process towards opening again. As you likely know, some areas of New York State are entering the first phase of NY’s reopening plan. Recreational activities, such as youth team sports, are in the fourth phase. The HTV Little League board is following the state and local governments’ guidance as the reopening of Long Island begins. We continue to meet and plan so we will be ready to proceed when cleared by the government and we know we can safely operate.

While it is uncertain just what the time table will be, we are preparing plans based on the different scenarios presented by anticipated start updates. As the process continues we will keep you informed and updated.

The safety and well-being of all the members of the HTV community will always be our main concern. Little League International, health organizations, youth sports groups, and HTV are all working together on designing a plan to reinstate baseball and softball in a safe manner. HTV has won national awards for its safety program, and we pledge to continue our high standards.

As you may have heard, Little League International has canceled all the late summer Little League World Series for baseball and softball. This includes regional tournaments between states. This does not have an effect on local seasons, except to provide more flexibility in scheduling local seasons throughout this year. Little League International is encouraging local leagues to play their seasons when it is safe to do so.

On a very different note, thanks to all the families that participated in the HTV virtual catch. The videos have been assembled and posted on the HTV Facebook page: facebook.com/HuntingtonTriVillageLittleLeague  If you were not able to send in a video, you can send one to [email protected] with “virtual catch” in the subject line we will be able to add you in.

All the volunteers at HTV are looking forward to a day when we can play baseball and softball again.
